So . . . today hubby and I got up about 7:00 a.m. and pretty much went right to work. The ground in the garden was finally dry enough to till through and we were able to replant the Top Crop green beans, Italian Flats and corn that didn't come up. I had so many tomatoes left, I planted three more and went ahead and planted all the spare broccoli and cauliflower. It's a little early but we went ahead and planted the sweet potatoes since for the next week or so it is going to be really hot. I planted a few more squash and melons and we finally called it quits.
I'm kind of tired and am trying to rest up a bit because later I have to pick strawberries and I'd like to get out into my herb garden and trim back the nettles and oregano and do a little hoeing and weeding. I think I may have gotten a little too much sun because I'm feeling a little sick to my stomach . . . but nothing a little downtime won't fix. Who knew it was actually that hot!! Hubby says to just relax and he'll spring for pizza tonight. You know, I might just let him do it!!

After I rested for awhile I felt better. It was definitely just too much sun!! I did let hubby pick up a pizza though. He ordered it while I was picking strawberries. Ooooooh, and there were a bunch!!! We ate pizza and then I went outside for a walk in the herb garden. I was sitting on my bench watching the wind in the trees and my house wren was singing and singing and singing and finally, I got the message and moved on. She was wanting me to leave so she could get back to her box.
It was starting to get dark but I knew it was going to get really windy and rain tonight and I wanted you to see the foxglove before all their blooms were blown off. If you will look toward the back of that picture you will see mullein, a wild herb. The yellow flowers are wonderful for earaches and the leaves in days past were used as diapers for children.
The other picture is of bronze fennel. I don't how many of you have grown this herb but it is just fantastic looking and adds such interest to your garden.
Well the wind, rain and eeek!! lightning are here!!!! Talk to you later!!
