I was telling hubby this morning that the garden seemed kinda sparse with veggies this year; and then I realized that last year I was working in the law office and went all week not picking vegetables, then picked and canned on the week-end. It makes a big difference! This year I can do a little everyday so it seems like less yet it's not - but it is a lot more laid back, plus the vegetables are picked in their prime. Not too big-not too small. I think I'm going to like this. It's going to take a little time getting used to having things "drag out", cause that's sort of what it feels like but at least I'm not totally exhausted and feeling nutsy all the time. The nice thing too is, for instance, when I went out to the garden I just went ahead and weeded the beets. It was so easy to pull the weeds since it had rained. Now, at this time of the morning during the week in 2013, I would have been on my way to the office. I would have never gotten them weeded. Being home really is making a difference. I just haven't realized quite yet that I'm retired. Eeeek, that word is almost scary and I'd probably smack you if you said something like, "she's no longer working", especially after I've picked a whole row of green beans!!!
After lunch I went out and pulled some green onions and put them in the food processor. It made quick work of chopping them up and then I just stuffed them into bags and froze them.
We're having a couple over for dessert tonight so I'm fixing Hubby's all-time favorite - Banana Pudding. Probably won't get a whole lot more accomplished today but it's still been great!!
