My husband smokes a pipe and when the weather is nice he sits out on the deck after dark, lights a candle and smokes his pipe. This evening was his first evening of the season. These are just two of the pictures and smells that my brain associates with mild weather . . . with peace and contentment.
Oh my gosh! I almost forgot to tell you - I went fishing yesterday!!! I caught 2 large-mouth bass, but I threw them back. They were really biting yesterday and I was just playing. I really wasn't fishing for my supper! Then we put the purple martin box up and crossed our fingers that the martins would be back this year. It will be an awfully lonely year if they don't show up. There weren't many of them last year and it's really worrying me. I know there's nothing I can do about it but it would be quite a loss. They are such a comfort in the summer to hear them twittering to each other and then watching them swoop and dive bomb. We are waiting with great anticipation for March 29 because that's about the time the scout will fly in. If he shows up we know we're having martins. I'll keep you advised!
I have a few more outdoor decorative items to paint so tonight I want to get that wrapped up. I've yet to finish planting my seeds even though I keep saying that's what I've got to finish up. Mercy I've got to get on it. This week is my final week. It should have already been done. Now I'll be working outside and inside too and having to focus on both is way too difficult for me. I want to only focus on the outdoors now. I really want to be finished with the indoor stuff.
Oh, and I've got sweet potato sprouts!!! This time next week I should be able to pinch some of them off and start them in water.
I just love the planting season!!!
