I had my coffee and heated up vegetable soup for lunch. I'm going to visit my girlfriend on my lunch hour and wanted to have enough of my homemade vegetable soup to share with her. I then got dressed, kissed hubby, waved good-by to him and was off to work. Just a little over a month left to go before I retire. I fluctuate between anticipation and fear; but anticipation, at this point, seems to be winning out. I really do have so many things that I want to do and I'm looking forward to having the extra time off. As I've said before, my only fear is that I'll lack the motivation to get up and get at it. I'm terrified I'll be one of those "old" women that gets up and shuffles around the house in her fuzzy slippers, never getting out of her jammies, not brushing her teeth or combing her hair. I don't believe I will be that way but it does give me pause, and the picture ain't pretty either!!!
Let's see - for January I've made up my mind that I'm painting the kitchen plus I have to make sleep pillows and popcorn blends for my son's men on board ship. Now come on! How long do you think that's going to take me? I've got 8 books to read - that should take care of 2 weeks. Things are looking better! Only 1 week left to fill. But what in the world will I do with February!! LOL Ah! Some things you have to take in stride and that is something I must learn - taking things "one step at a time".

I had a wonderful lunch with my friend. It's been awhile since we got together and I really missed her. I was simply amazed at all her craftiness. She's got one of those (I call them miracle sewing machines). The kind where you hook it up to your computer, pick out your pattern and put it on the computer thingy on your machine and it does the sewing. It's about the most magnificent thing I believe I've ever seen. Almost makes me want to take up sewing . . . ALMOST. My machine is the very, very basic kind and I'm lucky that I can even use it!! Obviously, sewing is just not my cup of tea but I have to admit, hers was one awesome machine!!
