I’ve been studying up on Nettles a little each day. I grow and use them but there's a lot of technical stuff I need to brush up on. It’s amazing how much information there is out there about nettles but my objective is to make the program not only informative but interesting. I requested a late date to do this program because of all the different uses for Nettles and I wanted to be able to show and tell the group as much as I could. Again, the trick here is to make it interesting. Gosh, if I get that glazed look - I’ll just die!! My secret weapon is food, which always seems to spark everyone’s interest and I’m banking on that!! TeeHee!!
Oh, I do want to tell you that the new sweet potato casserole recipe I made to go with the pork loins was absolutely delicious!! For me personally, it was a little too sweet, but hubby went wild over it so while I will secretly say to you all, and to you all only, that I’m cutting some of the sugar out of it the next time I make it - I will admit it is a keeper! I’ll put the recipe on the Recipes Page and you can try it for yourself. I actually think that it would be better served as a dessert!!
I have also planned a special dinner for my guests that are visiting Saturday evening. We’re having dinner out by the lake. I’ve decided it will be very country, since they love sitting out by the fire. We’re grilling burgers, having campfire potatoes, a big chef salad and peach-raspberry shortcake. The meal is not difficult and there will, as always, be marshmallows and hot chocolate for later. Now I’m just working on how to make the shelter house and table look perfect!!
So one more time I have to put a pic up. There will be more figs yet, but I've never, I mean "NEVER" picked 70 figs, "EVER"!!! I never really knew figs existed except in an occasional Christmas candy recipe. Oh, this is just so exciting!!!
