We then got out an older metal pan and practiced making omelets without the benefit of a non-stick pan. We were having such a good time and she managed to make one simply perfect all by herself. I think for 10 years old that's pretty cool!! We didn't fill them with anything because we knew there was no way we could eat another bite but I was tickled because now I knew she could go home and make an omelet for her mom and dad. You could tell it didn't hurt her feelings either. She was beaming. She said she wanted to make one for her Dad with tomatoes, basil and cheese. The girl has it going in the taste department!!
We both were sitting out on the back deck this morning drinking coffee and our oldest granddaughter tripped out to greet the morning with us. I got us both another cup of coffee and her a glass of juice and we all sat on the deck and enjoyed a new beginning. Papaw/Hubby went to work and she and I went to work learning how to make omelets. Oh my gosh, we had such a good time. First we had our prep work, which meant shredding the cheese, chopping up tomatoes and chopping the chives. After that it was nothing but heaven. Our breakfast was a delight. We were so proud of ourselves and so hungry we stood at the stove and ate. We then went outside and picked tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. We brought the tomatoes in, I sliced them up and she placed them on the dehydrator trays. She was an awfully big help. After that we made brownies from scratch. She's now watching her favorite television show, Little House on The Prairie. Then we'll fix supper and we're off to the elderberry farm. We just can't wait!!

AuthorMy name is Nina. Southern Indiana has been my home since 1952. I've been a legal secretary most of my adult life and for my leisure time I enjoy everything connected to the world of herbs and cooking is almost like a "fever". I am also quite opinionated but try not to push my opinions on others. My family is grown and I'm left with a wonderful hubby sharing life with me. I'd guess you'd say my passion is living that life to the fullest. Archives
