Today we made Mexican Wedding Cakes . . . and who hasn't made Mexican Wedding Cakes? Goodness, I think that's the very first thing I ever made when I was a little girl and they taste just as remarkable now as they did then and may I add they make just as big a mess as they did then. We had powdered sugar EVERYWHERE. We've decided we should be called the "cooking slobs". Truly, we can both really make a mess!
Then we went out to the vegetable garden and picked cherry tomatoes, to the herb garden to pick nasturtiums, brought them into the kitchen and made a cucumber/cream cheese stuffing. We filled the cherry tomatoes until they were almost too beautiful to eat and then stuffed the same creamy goodness in the orange and burgundy nasturtiums. They were not only gorgeous and tasty, they were an absolute delight to make. She learned to cut just a tiny slice off the bottom of the tomatoes so they would sit up and then took the tomato insides out and stuffed them using my plastic cake decorator. They really were gorgeous. Then she stuffed the nasturtiums. So lovely!!
We fixed hamburgers for lunch and had our little appetizers along with some sliced cheese on the side. We were rather full of ourselves. We have a tendency to compliment each other profusely while stuffing our mouths full.
Alas, all things must come to an end and I am going to lose my most favorite cooking partner today. She goes home to await the coming of school. She's excited about that as well which makes granny happy as a lark.

But . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . it's so quiet here now.
