Everything else in the garden looked okay. Tomatoes, eggplant and peppers were untouched, thank goodness!! Of course, it’s not like I don’t have plenty of replacements when it comes to tomatoes but still . . .
It rained most of the day while I was at work and my girlfriend came by the office and picked up the plants she had wanted. I had a ton of errands to run on my lunch hour so that really helped to free me up.
This evening was a very quiet one. We’ve gotten most of the laborious stuff accomplished so to be honest it looks like the next couple of days are going to be lazy days for us. It’s always nice to have a few of those so you can sit back, survey your work and breathe a great sigh of relief and satisfaction. For me, these kind of days are when I get out and weed in my herb garden for pleasure. I get to pick the times, early mornings up to about 11:00 a.m. and late evenings are best for me, from about 6:30 until dark. It’s one thing when you HAVE to weed, but when you do it "just because" it’s actually very therapeutic. Of course, here in Southwestern Indiana it is supposed to rain for a full week so if I want to weed it looks like I’ll be at the mercy of those few moments between rains. By the way, a little off the subject I know, but have you all noticed how bad the bugs are this year and that they are out so early? The gnats are just little demons!!! I've got a bug shirt and believe you me I'll be wearing it.
Perhaps I will get back to a little reading while it's raining. That has had to go by the wayside since we’ve been so busy. Hmmm, now that I think about it, curling up with a good book doesn’t sound half bad!!
I went for a walk out in my herb garden this evening before calling it a day. I had bought two scented geraniums, a Rober's Lemon Rose and a Nutmeg. I want you to know that something, and I think it was a "cute little chipmunk", cut them both down to the ground and left nothing but the leaves laying on the ground. I had notice that the ground squirrel had been doing that occasionally to my nigella but geraniums!!!! That's another thing altogether. I can't have that!! IT'S WAR!!!
