Hubby had to cut down a dead tree so I was out helping him pick up sticks, limbs, leaves and whatever. I didn't want him out there in this heat any longer than he had to be. The heat is not what gets you - it's that humidity.
I'm doing laundry a day early because I have a luncheon to attend tomorrow. Oh, I am simply ecstatic to get out and about. I'm also baking a couple loaves of bread. I thought I would take a loaf along with some jam to the hostess as a thank you, plus it won't hurt Hubby's feelings at all having a loaf of homemade bread in the house. I've been rather lax in baking bread. I had decided I wouldn't buy anymore and would bake my own and that, I'm ashamed to say, was not as easy as it sounded; but I'm going to try it again!! One of these days I'll get ahead of the curve!!
I put the dried onions in quart jars this morning and put them in the freezer. They would keep fine on a shelf in the jars but I like the extra protection. Also, as you can see, I didn't make onion flakes. I sliced the onions, due to them being smaller than the ones you get at the store, and dehydrated them just like that. I kept thinking how good they would be in my green bean casserole even if they weren't breaded and also, how much better they would be for you - and crunchy too! I'm sure there will be loads of casseroles and crock-pot meals that I can use these onions in and if I want onion flakes - simple - I'll just crush 'em!!
