Last night by the time the chicken and vegetable broth was ready to can, I was already pooped so I put it all in the frig. This morning I got up and scraped the hardened grease off the top, though there really wasn't much on it. Then I reheated it, poured it into jars and canned it. I ended up with 7-1/2 quarts of broth. I canned 7 quart and froze the pint. I am just tickled to death!! All that along with a batch of beef broth and then also the broth I'll make with my leftover Thanksgiving turkey will see me through the Winter. Growing out behind my herb garden is an apple tree. I don't know if it's a crab apple or just an old type apple tree. I'm going to put a pic on here and if anyone can tell me I'd sure appreciate it. I honestly haven't the foggiest but I'd sure like to know!! Today hubby and I enclosed the chicken coop and it's perfect, though the chickens just about came unglued. My girls are a little like me - they do NOT like change. They nearly had a fit, especially too since they could no longer see all of their surroundings. Mind you, they are also very, very nosey. After it was all in place and the hammering and banging and such ceased, they finally calmed down and commenced clucking and doing that purring thing so I knew they were happy and contented even if it was a big change for them. They will just have to get a grip. Either that or freeze to death!!!!

AuthorMy name is Nina. Southern Indiana has been my home since 1952. I've been a legal secretary most of my adult life and for my leisure time I enjoy everything connected to the world of herbs and cooking is almost like a "fever". I am also quite opinionated but try not to push my opinions on others. My family is grown and I'm left with a wonderful hubby sharing life with me. I'd guess you'd say my passion is living that life to the fullest. Archives
