I'm doing laundry this morning. I should have done it yesterday but wow, I just couldn't get it together yesterday. I was doing things right and left, and things though useful of little importance, but I was super busy all day long. Last night I also froze some more chicken eggs. I haven't noticed yet any lax in eggs being laid but many online are saying that their chickens are starting to molt and are not laying as prolifically as earlier in the summer. So far not a problem but I am freezing a bunch up for Winter since I have plenty right now. I'm hoping that what's in the freezer will meet my baking needs, and what few eggs (hopefully at least a few) are laid this Fall and this Winter, will be for frying and boiling; but just to have the frozen eggs in the freezer for baking will be a major money saver for me. Eggs tear my budget up at Thanksgiving and Christmas times. Butter and cheese really work my budget over too but we've not got a cow or goat yet and hubby gives me the cocked eyebrow if I even dare to mention it! TeeHee!!
Also, here's an update: Awhile back I started using cloth napkins in our home instead of buying paper napkins. Shortly thereafter we had an emergency here at our house and at that time I went back to using paper napkins. It was just too much for me, having so many people in our home; but I did go back to using cloth napkins. Using cloth napkins is difficult at first, just because you think of them almost like dishtowels. It took forever to get hubby to use them because his mind kept telling him, "you'll get it dirty." I put them in my napkin holder just like the regular napkins so they are always readily available because frankly, there isn't anything more maddening to want a napkin and not have any, especially since I no longer use papertowels either. I wash them right along with my other clothes but I do wash them with things like sheets which I find not to be quite as dirty. It's just a thing with me and, yes, I suppose that's a weird thing; but I definitely do not mix them in with the towels due to the lint factor. Nothing like wiping your mouth off and getting lint on your lips. That just would not do. Now, I will say this, the bottom line is I have a lot of cloth napkins. I've often said I LOVE to set a fancy table so I've bought many a napkin over the years. Not everyone has as many as I do and on top of those napkins I've specifically saved several sets for when I have company and want specific colors to match my dishes or my tablecloths. So . . . you do need to have plenty of them - but . . . pull out your sewing machine, buy yourself a new set of sheets for the bed, wash the old set up real well and make yourself a bunch! The savings for cloth vs. paper is not that big, only about $1.29 every 2-4 weeks but it's a savings!! It's also one more thing that doesn't get thrown away. I had some friends over the other evening for pie and coffee and the husband said, "Oh my, you didn't have to get out the fancy napkins for us!" I laughed!!!
