We're having a beef boneless rump roast for dinner tonight roasted the old-fashioned way. I put it in a roaster and smothered it with Herbes de Provence, dry Ranch Dressing Mix, flour, salt and pepper. The Herbes de Provence and the Ranch Dressing Mix were homemade and mercy, that concoction is smelling good now!! Anyway, I rubbed all that into the roast and put a little extra on top, then put some water in the pan. It will now roast away for most of the day. I remember coming into the house after school and my mom would have a roast, potatoes, carrots and onions in the oven and it is one of my favorite memories. I loved food even back then. Here's a well know fact - smells trigger memories. Have you ever walked into a room and smelled that old familiar smell and a childhood memory of some sort just popped into your head or a romantic evening or a camping trip or family picnic? Perhaps the smell will trigger that warm and loving attachment you had to your grandmother or grandfather or whoever. Scents will do that!! That's why I'm always saying that when you entertain be sure to have wonderful, awesome smells coming from your kitchen!!

Remember the Cheesy Mashed Potatoes I made for the church dinner last Sunday? That was the day I got sick and couldn't attend so I had to freeze them. Well, I got them out to go with the roast. Yum!! I still need to keep the freezer as cleared out as possible so this will help and it's pretty doggone good eatin' too!
