I'm making Echinacea Sore Throat Spray today. My youngest son, as I've told you, is in the Navy and spends long days and nights working. He has had cancer and back surgery and each year has to take tests. These tests are detrimental to his immune system. That, along with his tendency to not eat properly, whether it's his fault or not, makes him more susceptible to colds and flu. Everytime I talk to him he's got a little cold so I'm going to be ready for him when he hits my door. There will hugs galore and after that Mamma will have her way!!!!! Tee Hee!
If you're going to make Echinacea Sore Throat Spray you first need an Echinacea Tincture. You can buy it but it's much cheaper and very easy to make yourself. I made mine back on October 14 of this year so it's ready and waiting. I'll give instructions on making an Echinacea Tincture on my Recipe Page. By the way, do you know what Echinacea is? It is the Purple Coneflower. The tincture is often made from the root (being the strongest part of the plant), flower and leaves. My tincture was made solely from the root. You also need to remember to wait until the plant is at least in its second year before digging it up. It only makes sense that you want to use a strong plant for a strong medicine. When you dig, take off some of the root and then plant it back so you will have some for the following year.
I'm also making a very, very good Elderberry Syrup. This is not my own recipe completely. Years ago I found this and then adapted it to what I had available and needed for my own system until it worked for me. I'm very happy with it. I believe I got the original recipe from Evo Terra and worked from there. I'll put it on my Recipe Page as well.
As of the writing of this blog I'm still in the process of making the Elderberry Syrup.
I have some powdered Echinacea in my stash so I'm also going to make some Echinacea pills as well. I think I'll send some home with my boy. It's disgusting isn't it. Mothers are such pains!!!!!! Talk to you tomorrow.
