I am going into work today just for a couple hours to kind of help out. I don't mind. I really like what I'm doing and I'm still learning so the more time I have to work - the more opportunity I have to learn. All that being said I am trying to decide what to have for dinner. Hubby said he would grill pork loins out for me, I have pre-cooked spaghetti squash, which by the way, can be reheated and tastes exactly the same as if it were freshly baked, and I think I will make some deviled eggs. That ought to be enough. I'm going to slice up the leftover meatloaf for lunch along with some applesauce I've got sitting in the frig. Folks, I'm trying to stay on task. I had previously decided that if I were to go back to work I was not going to backslide into the old ways of running to the store and buying this or that to make life easier. We've always eaten well but I've made a considerable effort in the last few years to clean up our diet and eat more whole foods and I'M NOT BACKING DOWN no matter how busy. You know . . . I can always undo "busy". I don't have to work so - that's that!!! My allegiance is to my family and being first and foremost wife and homemaker. The balancing act can be a booger though!!
This morning I cleaned all of my hummingbird feeders. The glass ones I put away for the season but the plastic ones I refilled for straggling hummingbirds flying through on their way south. Believe me, this actually does happen. Even yesterday, I saw one sipping nectar from my roses and all of mine are gone, so this was a straggler. If you are able keep a feeder out for a little while yet. One note: they will remember where they've gotten their thirst quenched so it is highly likely they will be back again next year. Obviously, if you start putting out hummingbird feeders and also if you leave them out later in the year be sure you are ready to do it every year. Don't disappoint your hummingbirds. Our feeders are a little like miniature gas pumps. If you knew you were going to get great gas at a great price down the road, even though you were low on gas, you might pass up a gas station on your way. Now what if you got to your favorite station and there was no gas at all. It makes it awfully hard on our hummers when they can't find a gas station!!
