I went out after lunch to check on the chickens and pick up a couple eggs and when I opened the laying boxes all of the new girls were crowded into one box and one of the Australorps jumped out. Now that I think about it, we probably made a funny looking couple of crazies. She was scared and I was like nuts for fear of losing her, plus I was trying so hard not to let her get out of the barn and then when she made a quick turn and ran into the horse field she successfully evaded me due to the fact that I had to unchain the fence and then chain it back so the horses would not get out. Then the horses came running because they heard the chain and thought I was going to feed them. Then I got all excited because I thought one of them might step on my precious runaway chicken. Finally after slopping through wet, watery, icky manure puddles and slipping on a horse pile I ran the chicken back into the barn. After running her back through the fence into the barn, I managed to trap the chicken into a corner and grabbed her! Arghhh!!! Thank goodness there was no one around catching our escapade on camera!! It was a rather humbling sight. Time for a shower!!
After the chicken escapade I'd say the rest of my day was rather mundane - thank goodness!! I picked strawberries, went grocery shopping, did laundry, made egg salad, fixed a huge bowl of mixed fruit, made some bug spray and wow - my life IS boring!! TeeHee!!
