GOT SOME GREAT NEWS!!!! (Well, at least for me!) I'm getting a brand new chrome and black, 9 cup Quisinart Food Processor. I have been whining about my old one for the last few years. The one I had was a gift and you don't look a gift-horse in the mouth. You use it and you love it. The problem I had is after using it a few times it would no longer shred or grate anything. I was so disappointed but at the time I wasn't cooking nearly as much as I have been in the last 10 years. Yes, it's about 12-15 years old so I'm probably due. Anyway, I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.
I've got big plans for it, especially along the cheese line. Don't get me wrong I appreciate buying cheese already grated but friends if you've ever tasted the difference between store-bought grated cheese and cheese freshly grated it almost makes you sick to go back to store-bought. The cheese is soft and so full of flavor. Grating it yourself becomes a real benefit as well if you're on a budget, because you don't need as much cheese when you're getting twice the flavor. So I'm excited for that reason plus food prep is going to be so much simpler. It has a wider mouth and I'm going to be able to slice . . . oh dear!!! I can't wait until it is delivered. I got so excited I decided to clean my kitchen cabinets out and rearrange everything. Now my husband can't find anything!!
I have a small kitchen and limited space. Most cooks will tell you to put your kitchen equipment on your counter and you'll use it more often instead of putting it away and getting it out and putting it away and getting it out, but I've never had that option. My counter space is of a real premium and I have to make sure everything is cleaned up and put away so I'm very picky about what I do leave out. My mixer stays out, my coffee pot, canisters, herb rack, knife block and paper towel holder. Seriously, anymore than that and I'm hurting for space. I had to really work it to make a space for the food processor but it's one piece that will stay out on my counter. It's just beautiful!
When I cleaned out my cabinets I realized that I had forgotten I had a fondue set hiding way in the back that hasn't been used in 10 years along with an assortment of other items that were just taking up space. Some of these things I might use on a whim so I don't want to throw them out but they definitely got boxed up and labeled because I've got a lot of cooking I plan on doing. I may have cooked for 60 years but that doesn't mean a thing. I'm still learning more about cooking every day and I love it!
