My husband hollered at me to come into the kitchen and said “Look”! From the window I could see two beautiful young deer were standing out by Frog Rock at our lake. Oooops!! Some of you do not know what I’m talking about when I say Frog Rock. We have 2 huge rocks in our lake, one sits in the lake right out from the shelter house, and you can see it in some of my earlier pics, and one is on the other side of the lake. When you are approaching the one on the other side of the lake and look at it with a little imagination, it looks like a giant frog coming out of the water, hence “Frog Rock”. Every time we have youth groups or other groups over and we are walking around the lake we weave a fanciful story that Frog Rock is our wishing rock. You have to get up on Frog Rock, close your eyes and make a wish and then jump off. So many of the youth have climbed up on Frog Rock and made a wish and then jumped off kind of looking around to see if anybody saw them. We just laugh!!! Teenagers need to play too you know?! Some adults have had a real bang out of it too!! It is absolutely the most fun!!! For little kids, it helps them overcome their fear of heights and water (with, of course, a good dose of don’t go near the lake without Mommy or Daddy) and so many of them will jump off into our arms. So precious!!
Anyway our young deer were out by Frog Rock noodling around and playing in the water but they kept jerking their heads up and I just figured they were listening for predators. About 5-10 minutes later from out of the woods comes a much bigger, darker doe and she was very cautious and leery, much more so than the 2 young ones. They came up to her and it was fairly obvious that they were probably her babies. It was just absolutely an awesome site. My husband got some pics of the young ones but there was no way Mother was going to let us get a pic of her!! I’m going to try and get the pictures of the deer downloaded to my Picture Page.
Today I went grocery shopping. I was completely out of eggs, milk and butter, and my husband needs his Honey Nut Cheerios. He’s starting to complain and I can’t have that!! He can eat cereal morning, noon and night and sometimes when things get all jumbled up here at home that’s not exactly a bad thing. Between his cereal and peanut butter and jelly my husband is a happy man!
