Received an e-mail from my son early this morning letting us know that our baby girl was not well. She has a terrible cough and Momma can't leave her side!! I totally understand - but oh, I was so disappointed! Oh well, I wouldn't want to leave her either. That's the way it goes. So . . . I have a uneventful week-end totally devoid of any plans!!!!
I suppose I should go ahead and at least make one dessert for my husband. Hmmmm!! I think I'll have another cup of coffee and sort of sit and mope for an hour or two. I'm allowed to brood occasionally. It's a granny's priority!

Okay, so enough feeling sorry for myself. Time to get on with it!! I've been watching the resident muskrat on our lake since 10:15 a.m. He or she had been gathering food and crawling up on "big rock", the one out by the shelter house, and eating away. At about 11:45 a.m. it fell asleep on the rock in the sun and slept until 12:20. These animals could be considered harmless unless they are on your lake, which is where they tunnel and make their homes. They can ruin your lake dam. They usually eat at night or in the wee hours of morning and sleep during the day. This is kind of odd to see it out in the middle of the day. It's a fat one. Geez!!! I hope it's not a female! This would not be good!!!
I made my sister's potato soup for supper tonight and my husband and I ate like crazy. It was delicious. I had taken some leftover French Bread, cut it up for croutons, tossed it with olive oil, garlic salt and Italian Seasoning and baked it on 425 until the bread started browning and crisping up. I diced up some green onions and fried up 5 or 6 slices of bacon and had some cheese, all of which we could top the soup with. It was great all by itself. It really didn't even need all that other junk. On a day like today it hit the spot.
After dinner I made some hibiscus tea and now I don't know how I'll spend the rest of the evening. Gosh, I had all these plans for today and now I don't know what I'm doing. Maybe this is one of those rare times I should be tickled to death to have and settle in with a good book. What IS everyone reading these days? Any suggestions?
Talk to you tomorrow.
