I had almost forgotten about the vanilla extract I made too. I still have about 1-1/2 quarts of vanilla. One of these days I'll have to put that recipe on the Recipe Page. It is so easy to make your own vanilla extract and for a mere pittance of what you have to spend on vanilla at the store.
A friend of mine asked if I would handle a wedding reception for her daughter who is getting married in July. She will just be serving appetizers and desserts so that's not too bad but the scary part is there will be approximately 250 people there. Now, that's a lot of appetizers!! As I've gotten together a couple menus, checked out all there is to offer, and tried to decide if I was up for it, I've gotten more excited then ever. We're going to meet next week and hopefully, I'll be able to present to the bride and groom some interesting choices-both economical and classy appetizers.
We just finished having steak, broccoli casserole and a nice green salad for supper and I'm happy as a lark. My oldest son called me earlier and asked me to get on skype and my 2-year old granddaughter sang Happy Birthday to her Granny and the 8-year old wished me a Happy Birthday. Ah, she's growing up way too fast. Oh it was just lovely. It is such a joy to have grandchildren. Who knew?!!! My youngest son's wife called me this afternoon and when the telephone rang this evening I was hoping that it was my youngest son . . . and sure enough it was him. Can't ask for much more than knowing you're remembered, ya know?
