There's a lot going on in our world that is "not quite right" and we all know it. It may be different for you than it is for me but we are all aware something is not quite right. Some call it government interference, some call it a lack of moral living, some just cry "Foul"! Yes indeed, these are changing times. I honestly don't care much what each of you want to call it. I think deep down we know what it is. It's indifference, apathy, not being hot or cold but lukewarm. I think, speaking personally, that we are ignoring the miracle we celebrate each year at Christmas. We are totally and blatantly relying on everything but the greatest miracle of all. I say this knowing that perhaps I will alienate some of you reading. But the fact remains that you have your opinions and are allowed to have such - and so am I. That's just an old woman's viewpoint.
All that being said - what is there to look forward to this coming year in your life? Does peace reign high on the scale, contentment, happiness, a willingness to give or to share who and what you are?
Each year in the Spring I go into my herb garden and find new hope. Even after droughts, flooding and freezing temperatures it is amazing to see how hard the plants struggle to put forth the tiniest of growth. Some succeed and some succumb to the stress yet there's never waste. In nature whenever there's a void something is always there waiting to fill it. Nature abhors a vacuum. It might be a tiny acorn which will someday develop into a great and mighty tree which brings with it leaves for cleaner air, shade for coolness, homes for many small animals and birds, deep roots to prevent erosion or firewood for heating homes; or sometimes the lowly chickweed comes in and takes over and succeeds in covering the ground with a beautiful carpet of light green which brings with it the possibilities of a Spring potherb, salad green, a tasty pesto or maybe simply become a fertilizer for the earth. Sometimes the most invasive of weeds take over and causes one to scream for mercy!!
It's your Springtime, another beginning. What will fill the void in your life? A whole brand new empty year sits before you. Will something amazing happen this year or will you be screaming for mercy? It's a choice we all live with each and every day. SOMETHING will always fill the void.
